Usually, 5-7 working days from the moment we send the wedding application. However, if the Danish Government requires further documents or information, it could delay the wedding process.
Wedding approval issued by the Danish Agency of Family Law (AFL) is valid for 4 months, it is recommended that you send your wedding application less than 4 months from the intended wedding date. If you don’t get married within the four months of your wedding approval, a new application will be needed, and new fees will apply.
If you are a citizen from a visa-free country, you do not need a visa for the wedding application, however you will need to present a valid entry stamp into a Schengen country before the wedding day. If you are a citizen from a visa-required country, then you will need the Danish or Schengen visa for the wedding application and in this case, your wedding approval will be valid for the period of your Danish or Schengen visa. The Danish Agency of Family Law (AFL) will check for potential fake documentation and suspicious applications that could indicate sham marriages.
