The online marriage procedure is handled by specialists who will take care of the entire process, from guiding you about the necessary certificates for marriage eligibility via videoconference to delivering the marriage certificate already translated and apostilled, all in a secure, legal, and hassle-free manner.

Same-sex marriage is legally recognized in Brazil; however, you may need to observe the local legislation from your country of residency regarding the legality of same sex marriage.

How the process works

Upon starting the consultancy, MWeds will analyze your situation as a couple and send you the list of documents and instructions on how the documents need to be prepared regarding quality for example.
Once we receive all requested documents and application fee, we will make sure everything is within the required quality and will ask you to redo something if necessary. Once we are happy with your documents, we will send them to our Registry Office’s partner in Brazil. We will receive any communication from them and will keep you up to date regarding any extra requests. We will then receive the date to do the first videocall to have the digital certificate approved.
Around 5 days after the first videocall, we will have the date of the wedding ceremony, which will also be via videocall and will be conducted by the Judge. Around 5 working days after the wedding, we will have the digital marriage certificate, and we will send it to you by email.

After we have all the documentation ready, you can expect to have your wedding done in around 20-35 days.

Who can get married in Brazil via Video?

Any person that has a *CPF number from anywhere in the world. Also, any gender can get married in Brazil.
*CPF: Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas / Individual Taxpayer Registry. It is a registration number issued by the Federal Revenue of Brazil, which identifies taxpayers in the Brazilian tax system. The CPF number can be acquired by yourself. We will guide you on this matter as well.

Can same sex couples get married in Brazil?

Yes. Same-sex marriage is legally recognized in Brazil; however, you may need to observe the local legislation from your country of residency regarding the legality of same sex marriage.

Is wedding valid globally?

It depends on the country, considering the two points below:

A. Some countries may request a local validation process in which most of the time it requires the marriage certificate to contain the apostille of Hague.

B. Some countries such as Denmark, do not recognize a wedding in which the couple is not physically present to sign the marriage document. You will need to verify the specific legislation in your country of residence whether the marriage by Video is accepted or not.

Can I change my name on the wedding day?

Yes, you can change your surname if you want to.

Can I choose the regime of property for the wedding?

The statutory matrimonial property regime is the Partial Community of Property in which everything the spouses own at the time they enter into marriage or acquire later on becomes a part of their joint property. But, if you want to have a different regime, it has to be paid an extra fee, as it’s necessary to have a deed issued before in a Brazilian notary public.
It is important to mention that in case of a divorce, you do not get divorced in the country where you got married, but you get divorced in the country where you reside.

Will I need to send any originals for the wedding application?

No. For the wedding application, we will require only copies of the documents.

What are the other costs related to the wedding besides the consultancy and the application fee?

Other possible costs are for other kind of regime of property for the wedding, physical marriage certificate, apostille of Hague, translations, and anything else you may want to hire for your wedding (wedding rings, makeup artist, hairdresser, bouquet, etc.).
