A wedding in Georgia offers international opposite-sex couples a relatively straightforward way to complete a civil marriage in Tbilisi.
The couple must meet the Georgian marriage requirements, enter and remain in Georgia lawfully, and attend the registration in person. Two legally capable adult witnesses must also attend.
MWeds assesses the couple’s circumstances, provides tailored document instructions, reviews the documents and coordinates the civil-registration process in Tbilisi.
The marriage is legally valid in Georgia. However, recognition and use of the marriage certificate abroad depend on the receiving country’s law and administrative requirements.*

Certificates issued in Georgia can be used internationally once apostilled. Name changes must be completed later with the relevant authority in your country of residence, as Georgian civil registration does not automatically update foreign documents.
We currently work only with Tbilisi. Marriages in Georgia are performed through the official Public Service Halls and consist of civil registration only, without ceremonial surroundings. Registrations take place on weekdays.
No, but the spouses may choose to enter a full or partial prenuptial agreement on separate property with a solicitor in their country of residence. The applicable regime follows the law of the couple’s place of habitual residence once the marriage is registered there.
If you are a citizen of a visa-free country, you do not need a visa for the wedding application. If you are a citizen of a visa-required country, you will need a visa for the wedding application, and the wedding approval will be valid for the period of your visa. A Schengen visa is not required for Georgia, but depending on your nationality, a Schengen visa or a residence permit from a European country may allow entry into Georgia.
Two witnesses are included in this process. You do not need to speak the local language.
