Overview
A wedding in USA via video allows couples to complete a remote-appearance marriage through Utah County without travelling to the United States.
Utah County provides a digital marriage licence and permits the ceremony to take place by live video, provided the authorised officiant is physically present in Utah. MWeds supports couples with the document review, application and ceremony arrangements.
The process can normally be completed within approximately one to four working days after the required information, documents and fees are received, subject to licence processing and officiant availability.
The marriage is legally valid under Utah law. However, international recognition* and administrative use in another country depend on that country’s laws, particularly where the couple was not physically present during the ceremony.

International Recognition
* Recognition depends on the country. Some countries may request a local validation process, often requiring the marriage certificate to carry a Hague Apostille.
Some countries, including Denmark, do not recognise a wedding where the couple is not physically present to sign the marriage document. You should verify whether marriage by video is accepted under the specific legislation in your country of residence.
Property Regime, Timeline and Fees
Can I choose the regime of property for the wedding?
- The default matrimonial property regime is community of property, meaning all assets owned or acquired during the marriage are shared.
- The applicable law is based on the couple’s habitual residence. Once the marriage is registered there, that country’s regime applies.
- Couples may choose to sign a full or partial prenuptial agreement for separate property with a solicitor in their country of residence.
Timeline
After all documentation is ready, you can expect the wedding to take place in approximately 1-4 business days, depending on your availability and the officiants.
